Willie Warde and Fran Dillon, the winners of the Margaret Kelleghan Memorial Pairs Tournament receiving the trophy from Sean Harraghy, Chairman, Mullingar Bowls Club.

Margaret Kelleghan Memorial Trophy

In a magnificent final, one of our newest members, Fran Dillon, partnered by one of our more senior members, Willie Warde produced a wonderful performance to claim victory in the Margaret Kelleghan Memorial Pairs competition.

Throughout the nine ends, very little separated the Fran and Willie from their opponents, Ken Ridsdale and Marie Barrett. Marie has been throwing splendid woods of late and the pair certainly put it up to the all male partnership. Ultimately, the decider came down to the final end and it was the coolness of Fran which ensured that victory was secured.

Immediately after the game, the presentations were made to the winners and the runners-up by Sean Harraghy, Chairman, Mullingar Bowls Club

Westmeath Singles

The club was well represented at the Westmeath Singles competition in the well appointed Streete Community Centre.

Competition Secretary, Glen Ridsdale really flew the flag for the club but unfortunately, in the decider, she came up just a little short when facing Tyrrellspass' Michael Lynch.

Westmeath League

The Westmeath League is continuing apace and next weekend the club is due to face Streete 'B' at home. The game is down for Sunday, February 7 with a 8.30pm start. Of late the club has had a mixed run and it will be nothing short of miraculously if we were to turn our season around at this late stage.
