Ten signed up for midland's Business Angels network

Ten investors have already signed up to participate in the new Business Angels network for Mullingar, even though the official launch of the network has not yet taken place.October 3 at 7pm is the date at which the Lir Investors Network (the Midlands Business Angels) will be launched, at an event hosted by the Midlands Gateway Chamber in the Mullingar Park Hotel. Cooley Distillery founder, John Teeling, will chair evening."This event is intended to give potential investors and entrepreneurs an opportunity to find out more about the network and how it will facilitate bringing entrepreneurs and investors together - with a focus on inward investment in the midland region," a Chambers spokesman told the Westmeath Examiner.Speakers on the night will include Gerry Duffy, UK Deca-Enduroman Champion 2011, and Diane Roberts, national director of Halo Business Angels Network.The Lir Investors Network was founded by Mullingar businessman Martin Nally, former owner of the Westmeath Examiner and Westmeath and Offaly Independent newspapers.Witnessing the downturn in investment in the area, Martin set about researching the development of an investors network, and to date, has brought together 10 investors.The group welcome inquiries from other interested parties who are seeking to invest in worthwhile businesses in the midlands region, and Martin explains that the Lir Investors Network is about funding job creation in high potential companies through capital investment and expertise."It works similar to a marriage bureau, whereby investors are given a chance to work with suitable early stage or start-up companies with a view to creating jobs and increasing growth.
