Workshop on children's rights

Early Childhood Ireland is hosting a practical roadshow on children's rights in the Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar, on Monday March 26 (7-9pm).Early Childhood Ireland represent preschools and full day care centres supporting 70,000 children and their families nationwide.The nationwide roadshows are for those working in the early childhood care and education sector on the subject of Children's Rights - Embedding Children's Rights In Everyday Practice.The roadshow is free to members of Early Childhood Ireland and costs €15 for non-members.Specifically, this workshop will consider:• What are children's rights and how do those working in the early childhood care and education sector support them in daily practice?• How the curriculum for the free preschool year and the Aistear framework and Sìolta standards under which it operates promotes a rights-based approach in curriculum. The opportunities provided to enable children make choices and participate in the life of the preschool service.• Meeting the requirements of Regulation 5 in promoting children's rights.Early Childhood Ireland in collaboration with a new organisation called Campaign for Children will explore the issue of children's rights, dispel some myths, and consider how we as a society position children and their rights.It will provide practical examples of children's rights in action in early childhood settings.
