Mullingar kids in running for UNESCO prize

Kids from St Patrick's NS, Mullingar faced the ECO-Dragons at the Leinster ECO-Den and inspired the judges with their project Litter and Waste.The project is in the running to earn a spot in the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards 2012 Gala Showcase and Awards at the Mansion House Dublin on May 8.The members of the group are: Caroline Kelly, Padraig Kane, Nathan Brudell, Fiachra Heeney, Eoin Deegan, Ciaran O'Brien, Ciana Daly, Cianra-Lee Carey, Stephanie Brudell, Aiobhin Jachson, Owen McIntyre, Adam McGoldrick, Maddy Norris, Jemma Seery, Philp Reynolds and Muir Ward.St Patrick's focused on litter and waste a worked hard to reduce, reuse and recycle."The children have become more aware of how important it is to take care of the environment and are learning first hand about recycling," said Yvonne Skelly, St Patrick's NS group leader."We are united as a team toward gaining our first Green Flag and as a result our working environment has become all the more pleasant to teach and to learn in."Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite project at www.ecounesco.ie to determine the winners of the People's Choice Award 2012.www.ecounesco.iehttp://ecounesco.wordpress.com
