Relief for Columb Drive residents as houses demolished

There is widespread relief amongst the residents of Mullingar's Columb Drive now that the council have begun demolishing the remaining houses in St Laurence's Drive.Householders in Columb Drive started calling for the derelict buildings to be torn down after they became a focal point for anti-social behaviour and illegal dumping.Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, long time resident Teresa McGrath said that the demolition of the buildings was a much welcomed early Christmas present for those living in the area as they had become a health hazard.
