Niall Horan and his One Direction bandmates added to their growing collection of accolades last night, Wednesday February 20, when they were amongst the winners at the 2013 Brit Awards in London.
The 1D boys, who also performed live, won the inaugural Global Success award at the star studded event in the O2 Arena. Nobody can argue that Niall and the lads certainly weren't worthy winners of the award created to recognise the British act that recorded the highest international sales in the previous 12 months.
Since last year's Brit Awards at which they won the Best Single Award, One Direction has established themselves as one of the biggest bands of the planet scoring two number one singles in America as well as regularly topping the charts across the world. Such is the group's popularity, their current release, Teenage Kicks, which they performed at the Brits, is number one in 63 countries. Niall's star has also risen in tandem with group's growing popularity especially in America, where, according to reports, he is a firm favourite with their millions of young fans.
Although One Direction lost out to Mumford and Sons in the Best British Group category, Niall seemed to be happy enough with the group's lot, tweeting to his 9.5m followers: "Yessss ! We won a Brit award! Thank you so much to all of you for gettin us here ! Now off to mcdonalds for a double cheese burger."
The young singer also tweeted a picture of himself with double Brits winner Emile Sande, which was taken at dress rehearsal.
One Direction global domination looks set to continue for quite some time with the group beginning the latest world in London on Saturday. The group is also the subject of a 3D documentary by Supersize Me director, Morgan Spurlock.
