€433,553 for Archerstown

The government has approved €433,553 in funding under the Rural Development Programme for a community facility on the grounds of the Brownstown hurling club in Archerstown.

The announcement was made today (Tuesday) by Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan.

Longford/Westmeath Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden informed us of the good news.

She said: “I am delighted that sanction has been given for Westmeath Community Development Ltd to approve funding of €433,553 to Brownstown Community Development for the development of a multi-purpose community facility in north Westmeath under the Basic Services for the Economy and Rural Population measure of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013,” Deputy McFadden said.

“The funding is sought towards the construction of a new multi-purpose community facility on the grounds of Brownstown hurling club and the facility is to be known as Brownstown Community centre. The centre will contain a community hall with toilet and changing areas, storage area, a kitchen and a raised stage area.”
