Snow warning in place for Westmeath for tonight

Some seriously cold weather is ahead for Westmeath tonight, according to Met Eireann, which has issued a yellow alert for Connacht, and for Westmeath, Longford, Cavan and Monaghan.

On the way is cold wintry weather later tonight and tomorrow, with occasional heavy sleet and snow showers likely, and accumulations of up to 3 cm in places, especially on higher ground.

The alert is in place until 6 pm tomorrow evening.
