Niall's granny loves the Gar

Niall Horan's Granny Nolan called into Mullingar Chamber of Commerce today to get a look at this year's new 'Gar and was presented with her own set of Niall Horan Limited Edition Gars.

"I am so proud of Niall and I think the Gar with Niall on it is a great idea," Granny Nolan told Angie Daly, the Chamber's Office manager.

What is the proud Granny do with her stash of Niall cash. Well, she is sending them to America and her other grandchildren out there.

"Granny Nolan told me she is going to send them all to her grandchildren living in the USA. That they love to hear how he is doing and will love to get a Gar," said Angie."

The Gar is a tourism currency created by Bartle D'Arcy, Directing Tourism in 2011 and has featured James Joyce and John Joe Nevin. The choice of Niall Horan to feature in 2014 was made to honour the great young man and all he has achieved.

"The whole point of the Gar is to promote Mullingar and encourage tourists staying in hotels in the area to visit the town when they are staying in the area," explained Pat Whelan Chamber President.

The Westmeath Examiner newspaper has also played an important role in the development of the Gar, supporting, through sponsorship, a move made by the Chamber of Commerce to make this Gar available to Niall's fans throughout the world.

"The Westmeath Examiner and its news room team detailed every single moment of Niall's rise to fame and we were rooting for him from the very beginning. Now that he is a mega-star, we are proud to help support Mullingar and provide his fans with archive material about how hard this young man worked for everything he has achieved, from that first audition for the X-factor," explained Dale Greenwood, Group Business Manager, Celtic Media Group.

"The new Niall Horan Gar will connect fans to Mullingar and to the Westmeath Examiner, allowing them to learn even more about their favourite One Direction Star," said Dale.
