Ballynacargy boxer Wayne Kelly has bowed out of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Bulgaria.

The light welter weight was defeated by Ayan Kalibekov from Kazahkstan in the premlinary round of the championships in Sofia, which are also a qualifying tournament for the Junior Olympics that are in China this August.

Kelly was on the wrong end of a unanimous decision against the Kazahk fighter, but according to reports he gave a very good account of himself against a top class boxer.
