No problem with green bridge lights says council

There is no problem with the traffic lights at the Green Bridge in Mullingar, according to the council.

One man who disagrees is Cllr Ken Glynn. He says that the local authority needs to review the traffic light sequence at the Green Bridge “where there is persistent breaking of the lights”.

Cllr Glynn says that it is particularly dangerous for drivers coming up to the centre of the town from Clonmore.

It is widely regarded as one of the more dangerous junctions in the town, and the Fianna Fáil man added that the council needs to look at improving safety at the busy intersection.

Replying to Cllr Glynn’s question at this week’s meeting of Mullingar Municipal District, the council replied that “the lights and sequence are satisfactory at this location”.

“Enforcement of the rules of the road is a matter for the gardaí, who have CCTV surveillance of this junction.”
