Book launch turns into impromptu reunion for st lomans staff
There was standing room only at the Annebrook Hotel last Thursday evening for the launch of a new book chronicling the history of St Loman’s Hospital.
More than 300 people, many of them former members of staff, attended the launch of A History of St Loman’s in Changing Times, which left the six co-authors (Joe Maleady, Odran and Frank Hynes, Breffni O’Reilly Irwin, Anne Masterson and Margaret O’Neill) “gobsmacked”, said Joe.
“It went beyond our expectations. If we had planned it for a month, it couldn’t have gone better. I met a woman on the way in who was buying the book and she left in 1966 and I went there in 1967, so that gives you an idea of the level of interest.”
See this week's Westmeath Examiner for a full report on the evening and a full page of photographs.
