Tyrrellspass native involved in bust up with keano

The man involved in the much publicised bust up with Roy Keane on Wednesday afternoon is Tyrrellspass native Frank Gillespie.

According to reports in the national media, Mr Gillespie, who is married to comedian Brendan Grace's daughter Melanie, got involved in a confrontation with Keane when he unsuccessfully tried to get the Manchester United legend to sign a copy of his recently published autobiography, The Second Half, in the lobby of the Irish team's hotel in Dublin. During the incident, US based businessman Mr Gillespie fell to the floor.

A "source close to Mr Gillespie" told the Irish Independent that the Tyrrellspass native "will seek and apology from Keane, but will not take the matter further than that".

Mr Gillespie, who was hospitalised after the incident and claims that he has a sore neck and head, told the Irish Star that he "did not hit him, I was terrified of him".

"He cannot walk up to one of the best Ireland fans in the last 25 years and treat them like that."
