A day for a big fire and a hot dinner

It’s definitely a day for a big fire and reheated turkey today, with bad weather predicted for the midlands, and temperatures of 3-5 degrees.

Met Éireann is predicting a cloudy day, with scattered outbreaks of rain, heavy in places and turning to sleet or snow in places also.

It is also set to become quite windy: this morning’s winds are to strengthen as the day goes on, and tonight’s forecast is for a cold and blustery night with clear spells.

However, some wintry showers will occur across the midlands and north Leinster, with lowest temperatures around zero, although it will be generally dry.

There will, however, be frost and icy patches in sheltered areas.

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a cold, blustery day with good sunny spells but passing heavy wintry showers will occur also. The southeast will be mostly dry.
Highest temperatures just 3 to 6 degrees and feeling very cold in the fresh to strong north to northwest wind.
