Mullingar battle royal takes place this friday

A fascinating all-Mullingar battle awaits in the National Stadium tonight, Friday , January 16, when Olympian John Joe Joyce and up and coming 69kg star Wayne Kelly meet in their National Senior welterweight semi-final.
Joyce, who boxes out of St Michael’s BC, Athy, represented Ireland at the Olympic Games in Beijing (2008), while Irish youth champion and Ballynacargy native Kelly wears the Mullingar Élite Boxing Club colours.
The other semi-final sees Adam Nolan go up against Michael Nevin’s conquerer Bernard Roe.
Joyce disposed of Arklow’s Fergal Redmond in his quarter-final bout, while Kelly saw off the challenge of Corpus Christi’s Lee Sherlock.
