Guineys opening at 10 am tomorrow

There's loads of activity behind the gleaming glass doors and windows - but shoppers will still have to wait until 10 am tomorrow, Saturday, to check out the new Guiney's store at Mullinar's Castle Street.

The latest in the Guiney empire is spread over a 10,000 square feet premises filled already with clothing, bed linen, household goods, accessories and workwear, and Suzi Guiney, in Mullingar supervising as staff do the final arranging of stock, is excited about tomorrow's opening.

"Dad looked at Mullingar, and just thought it had the otential to do really well - there's a great catchent area around and we're fully confident there's a gap here for the curtains, haberdashery and nursery areas in particular," says Susi.

Her dad is, of course, Michael Guiney, who opened his first store in 1977, and who now has outlets in Tralee, Waterford, Limerick, Cork, Clonmel, Castlebar and Dublin.

There is a staff of ten already in place for Mullingar, and even they have been commenting on the range of products they will be stocking, with everything from men's work wear, women's work tunics, kitchen goods, handbags, and household accessories, over two floors - the 8,000 square foot ground floor and a 2,000 square foot mezzanine.
