TG4 filming in Ballynacargy earlier this month.

Ballynacargy on tv

Ballynacargy is to feature on Nuacht TG4 this evening, Sunday, at 7 pm.

A film crew from the station was in town earlier this month to film a segment relating to the new "Teach Ceoil" opened by Ballynacargy's vibrant Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann branch in the village's former courthouse.

"Vibrant" is one word for the Ballynacargy members, it emerged this weekend: TD, Willie Penrose, one of the stalwarts of the branch revealed that on Saturday night, the branch had several musicians playing a slot at the Michael English weekend at The Mullingar Park Hotel - an event that had most of the accommodation providers in Mullingar booked out.

And despite the late finish, the branch members were up and in action again on Sunday morning, in a 5k they had organised.

It is understood the branch may also be participating in the Uisneach festival on the May bank holiday weekend as well.
