Video fr murt sees the hi festival light

This is the story behind the series of short promo movies on heartofireland.ie to promote the Heart of Ireland (aka Hi Festival) in Mullingar on July 10-12.

Enormous thanks to everyone who took part and to Reverend Alastair Graham who allowed the movie to be filmed in All Saints Church.

In clip one, we see fictional character Fr Murt, condemning the new festival. Then he reviews images of the festival in a state of shock, and in clip three he receives a phone call, a turning point for the festival.

The final clip, number five, will be launched shortly featuring a cast from Mullingar Arts Centre, Mullingar Town Band and Babylons Inferno.

But first, here’s what happened to Fr Murt, played by Murt Ennis, one recent evening.

In a miraculous transformation, Fr Murt has become a fan of the Heart of Ireland Festival.

He explains: “As I was turning off the lights I pleaded, 'Dear God, give me guidance so I can lead your folk the way You want me to’.

“Next I heard a telephone ring, but there is no phone in the church. I followed the sound and in a beam of light stood a table with the phone.

“I answered and a booming voice said: 'Murt, my son, this festival is all about goodness – identifying goodness, acknowledging it, celebrating it and supporting people to do more good deeds. I need you to tell everyone this festival has my blessing. It’s time to show the world that Goodness is cool Murt. Can I count on you?’.

“When I put the phone down I was in shock. I still am, but a big weight has lifted from me.

“Now I’m encouraging everyone to sing and dance and celebrate the good in life, and come to the festival in Mullingar in July!” Fr Murt concluded with a twinkle in his eye.
