Paint it pink this friday

This Friday October 2 is the Irish Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser for Breast cancer research – ‘Paint it Pink Day’.

As part of its campaign, the society is encouraging people across Ireland to hold their own pink fundraiser events. Mullingar Pink Ribbon committee, in conjunction with several clothes retail outlets in the town, are turning their shop fronts pink, to mark the event.

The largest voluntary funder of cancer research in Ireland, the society has committed €7.5 million to Breast Predict, a collaborative cancer research centre established to focus on breast cancer. Statistically, one in 10 women in Ireland will get breast cancer at some point in their lifetime, so this initiative aims to increase the pace of discoveries in the breast cancer field.

Volunteers will be out on the street on the day, looking for donations and support.

If you want to get involved contact Marie O’Toole via the Irish Cancer Society at 1850 606060. You can donate €4 to the society by texting the work Pink to 50300.
