€100,000 of heroin seized in Killucan

Heroin with an estimated street value of €100,000 (pending analysis), has been seized by gardaí at a house in Killucan.

A 26-year-old female was arrested and is currently detained at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The search of the house took place yesterday evening, as a follow up to the seizure of heroin seized when Gardaí stopped and searched a car in Crumlin yesterday afternoon.

Following the Crumlin find, a 35 year old male was arrested at the scene, and detained at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The searches were undertaken as part of a Garda investigation targeting drug trafficking in the midlands during operations involving members of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Gardaí from the Westmeath Division.

According to the gardaí, these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
