Motorists forced to remove tree after it falls and blocks road

A tree which collpased on the road on the main Mullingar to Delvin Road today, Friday, has been pushed to the side of the road.

The tree fell at Williamstown, around 3 miles from Delvin, shortly before lunchtime.

Happily, no-one was injured and there was no damage to vehicles.

Traffic was blocked and there were tailbacks in both directions.

Drivers have moved the tree to the side of the road but caution is still needed as the branches are still above the road for cars headed to Mullingar.

Debris from the tree is also scattered across the road but care has been made to remove smaller branches.

It fell in between the two bends so drive slowly, especially if you are unsure of the road and are travelling to Body and Soul.
