Litter louts – prepare to pose! CCTV cameras are to be installed at litter hot spots in Westmeath. And if the evidence is there, prosecutions will be brought.

So members of Mullingar Municipal Council were told at their July meeting, where Cllr Andrew Duncan raised the “menace” of illegal dumping.

He was told that a CCTV service provider had been identified and the council could draw down from this contract as they saw fit within their budget.

Cllr Emily Wallace was told that Saunders Bridge can be considered. She had complained of dumping at Saunders Bridge and Gaybrook Cross/Milltownpass Road.

At the same meeting Cllr Duncan was told that potholes had been repaired at the bungalows at Grange South and that 150 metres of the Old Longford Road had been raised up to 700 mm and then surfaced.
