Wrap up warm over the coming days as wintry showers, sub zero temperatures and stormy conditions are set to descend on the midlands over the coming days. In its latest weather warning Met Eireann is predicting that tonight, Wednesday will see temperatures plummet to -3 degrees with heavy rain, turning to snow on high ground, spreading down through the midlands.

Motorists are being advised that tomorrow morning will be both frosty and foggy with reduced visibility. Rain is expected to build from the southwest later in the day, reaching the midlands and most of Leinster by evening, leading to snowfall throughout Thursday night.

Spells of sleet and snow are expected on Friday with maximum temperatures of 7 degrees.

The week-end is start off with windy conditions turning stormy throughout Saturday, with gale force winds over the midlands. The winds will be accompanied by heavy rain and snow, though the indications are that the northern half of the country will be most affected.

A slight improvement in temperatuture is expected later in the week-end and into the early days of next week with the barometer set to touch double figures.
