Andrew Revington runs a dairy, beef and tillage farm in Delvin and on Thursday of this week, February 1, he appears on RTÉ One’s Ear To The Ground at 8.30pm.

In the programme, the topic of veganism is explored, and his farm is visited by Thalia Heffernan, who is an Irish model and animal rights activist.
Thalia went vegetarian three years ago, and then last year decided that she wanted to explore living as a vegan. The rights of animals at the forefront of her decision, she felt that her health would benefit also.
Andrew is aware that there is sometimes seen to be a conflict between vegans and farmers, but he is keen to show that most of these arguments don’t apply in Irish farming.
How many people can you say you know who are now living on a plant based diet and going vegan? For many of us it could be quite a few. All around our cities and towns there are vegan options on most menus and vegan restaurants are popping up all around us. Many people are even giving it a go for January – renamed ‘Veganuary’ for those testing this way of life. But what are the reasons behind people ditching meat and dairy to name a few?
Darragh McCullough and Thalia visit Andrew’s farm to start the conversation between vegan and farmer on Ear To The Ground on Thursday February 1 on RTÉ One
