Make way for Superkidd!

Mullingar`s buzzing music scene gets another new music promotion this weekend when the virile SuperKidd Promotions host their inaugural event in that Mecca of Mullingar music that is The Stables.

Concerned more with promoting the finest unheard and innovative music than turning profit, SuperKidd has called upon local rockers Autofly to headline what promises to be a tour de force of great music.

An extra bonus on the night is the arrival of Autofly`s eagerly anticipated new E.P. which will be unveiled for the first time on the night. A long time coming the E.P. finally captures this great act one tape. A band who can impress first time listeners as well as longtime fans alike, Autofly have been chipping away at the coalface of Irish rock for some years now, so is this their time? We hope so. Steve Cummins, Mark Kelly, Laurence Masterson and Ronan Byrne have honed their sound nicely in recent months, and the E.P. is further proof of that.

Support on the night also showcases SuperKidd Promotions` desire to attract a good mix of musical genres to cater for a variety of tastes. Whether it is indie, hard rock or alternative music that tickles your fancy, SuperKidd hope to have you covered.

Recent finalists in the Midlands Music Festival Westmeath Examiner bands challenge, Athlone act Makewait will bring their pounding melodic pop mix to The Stables stage for the second time in a month. A rock band with great pop sensibilities, the three-piece features lifelong friends Cormac Sheerin, Derek Daly and Ian Bell. Although they`ve released just one EP to their name, the band are well-known on the Irish scene and their pop-filled rock is harmonious, melodic and very inventive.

Hailing from Dublin classic rock specialists The Chaos Emerald are out to restore rock & roll to the masses, while Athlone act The Critic Eyes are regarded as one of the finest young bands in the midlands at the moment.

Also paramount to the SuperKidd manifesto is providing all these excellent acts with the chance to perform in front of a large and appreciative audience, which is why admission is a paltry Û5 on the night.

So, make a Bank Holiday date if you can for this show. Doors open on August 4th at 9pm.
