The "Reds" started of the brighter of the two teams and had a couple of chances early on, before Shane Lynch linked up with Christopher Kiernan who cut in from the right side, and laid on a fantastic pass for Anthony Fagan to hit a ferocious first time shot high into the roof of the net giving the home keeper no chance.Celtic could have gone two up when Oisin Sheil's shot had beaten the 'keeper but was cleared off the line. Ballyboro pushed hard to get back on level terms before the break and were attacking hard at every opportunity. Eoin Fagan and Nathan Lee Aughey were defending well, Charles Flynn pulled off a couple of great saves to keep the Westmeath side in front at the interval. The second half was a ding dong battle with both teams playing good entertaining football. Ballyboro scored with a well worked counter attack before taking the lead halfway through the half. Celtic dug in and their perseverance paid off when Aughey broke up an attack on the right-hand side and played a ball up the line for Ryan Moore to run onto and cross into the penalty box for Kiernan to control and coolly finish off with the last kick of the game.Team: Charles Flynn, Nathan Lee Aughey, Eoin Fagan, Shane Lynch, Oisin Sheil, Joe Higgins, Anthony Fagan, Ryan Moore, Christopher Kiernan.Match ReportsUnder 9 Girls LeagueCastlepollard Celtic 1 Olympic Rovers 6This game was not as one sided as the score line suggests with the home girls having loads of the ball but finding it hard to penetrate the Rovers back line. Lauren Murray played the first half in goals but came out in the second to score for the home side after Lauren Sheridan and Shannon Daly linked up well to set her up. Emma Keating was making some great tackles in defence while second half goalkeeper Katie Kiernan made some super saves. The youngest player in the team Kirsty Fivey did loads of running up front and is really starting to cause trouble for opposing defences. Lauren Sheridan raced up and down the field all morning and managed to hit the post twice without scoring. The girls are continuing to learn how to play the game but on Saturday they were playing against the League leaders in Rovers.Best for Celtic were Emma Keating, Kirsty Fivey and Player of the Match Lauren Murray.Team: Lauren Murray, Emma Keating, Shannon Daly, Lauren Sheridan, Kirsty Fivey, Katie Kiernan.Other ResultsUnder 8 Major DivisionCastlepollard Celtic 2 Kenagh United 2Under 10 Premier DivisionCastlepollard Whites 1 Gaels United 3Under 11 Girls CupCastlepollard Celtic 0 Delvin Celtic 1FixturesUnder 9 Girls League: Newtown v.
