All set for Captains" Dinner
Next Saturday night at 8pm the highlight of the social calendar at Moate Golf Club takes place. The annual Captains" Dinner will be held in the Clubhouse.This gives the members and their friends the opportunity to pay tribute to the work done by the Captains and Committee throughout the year.This year Padraig Keenan and Mary Kerrigan had the privilege of leading the club and they look forward to welcoming members and guests to this event. Music will be supplied by Bojangle (Niall Ruttledge), food will be expertly prepared by Pauric Whelehan and a good night is assured. Tickets are still available from the club (090 64 81271). Temperatures barely scraped above freezing, making any play impossible. Nevertheless, a curtailed Turkey Competition was completed this week, with only one bird allocated to each category. The winners were: Cat 1 - D. White (4) - 32 pts, Cat 2 - Dermot Sheehy (21) - 33 pts, Cat 3 - T.Mc Donagh (18) - 36 pts.All golf clubs are obliged to carry out an annual review of handicaps, where each players performance is compared to the expected norm. Adjustments will then be made by the Handicap Committee. This process is now ongoing in the club, so watch the Notice Board for any changes to handicaps over the next few weeks! Tee times for the golf is between 12 noon and 1.30pm, while the dinner is timed for 5.00pm. Time sheet for golf available in the Ladies locker room.
