Blizzards Christmas gig

2008 has been a terrific year for The Blizzards, and to celebrate, the Mullingar quintet will round off the year with a Christmas gig in The Academy, Dublin on Saturday, December 27.With the mega success of their second album, The Domino Effect, a Meteor Ireland music award for the best Irish live performance for Oxegen 2007, and phenomenal radio play of their single 'Trust Me I"m a Doctor', is it any wonder that only a band like Metallica could keep it off the number one spot when their latest album debuted at number two in the charts?Yes, what a year it has been for the boys. With a trip Stateside, the ska-punk band represented Irish music in New York for the Music from Ireland showcase, before taking a week off to relax after their 24 show Irish tour, which they played might I add, in just 18 days! But it didn"t stop there for this more than energetic band. Following two sold out gigs at Galway"s Roisin Dubh, at which Universal"s A and R man was present, they were subsequently signed by Universal London for a publishing deal. Nice one!So to finish off a good year, The Blizzards will play The Academy on Saturday, December 27.Tickets for the gig are €23 including booking fee and are on sale from all the usual places.
