New Year"s Eve competitionNotice regarding the New Year"s Eve shot gun start scramble is posted and members are invited to enter their intention to take part; the draw for partners will take place this evening Tuesday 30th December.Men"s seniors" golfThe Old Stand Seniors" hamper competition came to a successful conclusion on Tuesday last, December16 with the final and defining round which was played in what were pleasant if, sometimes, damp conditions. The competition which was again sponsored by our good friend, Eddie Walsh, 'The Old Stand',was won by Jim Quinlivan, with 39 points. Only three points separated first to tenth with four players finishing on 38 points.The following were the major prize winners, 1st - Jim Quinlivan; 2nd - Tom Mulvee; 3rd - Mick Purcell; Super Senior - Pat Curran; Cat 1 - John Tweddle; Cat 2 - Tommy Lyng.We hope that our seniors will receive lots of golfing gear from Santa and hope to see everyone back in action in January. Enjoy the season"s festivities.Morgan golf and sports men"s winter leagueThose participating in the winter league are reminded that the master score board has been up dated by the competitions people and there are quite a few not yet with scores registered; with goodish weather forecast I would urge you to get in a few rounds over the holiday season.Did you know?Karsten Solheim a golfing revolutionary, who discovered the game at the age of forty two and, while working in his garage, invented the "Ping" putter with its unique heel-toe weighting design, later adopted in his irons.
