Fahy Queen in Top Flight on Saturday

After the weeks severe frost the weather was a bit kinder for Saturdays action (January 10th) where all races attracted the full compliment of runners.Paddy McCormack"s (Offaly) Fahy Queen produced her best form to date when recording a smashing 29.55 clock to win the tenth race.Raced up front throughout the action to land the spoils by a distance from Cauley Dot Com at odds of 3/1.John Byrnes (Mullingar) Coolemount Rita having already chalked up four wins over the 525 yards circuit produced another fluent display when she made all the running to score by a length and a half from Swans Bog in 31.26 over the 550 yards trip in the first race.Pie Ball Dan made the early running in the third race but a powerful late surge by Master Paul Casserly"s (Navan) Black Tracey Bee denied him victory as she shot clear to win by five lengths in 30.36.Offaly trainer Tommy Bolton continued his winning success at the meeting when he recorded a treble. Cahermore Tucks which runs in the ownership of Sheila Bolton (Offaly) made all the running to win by five lengths from So Low in 22.04 over the 400 yards trip.The second leg of the treble came in race four when Maggie Honcho powered home six lengths to the good from Kilcooney Raven in 29.67 over the 525 yards course. The winner is owned by Miss Margaret Bolton (Offaly).Peppered Sprout owned by Tony Griffin (Roscommon) completed the Bolton treble when he held on by a half a length from the well supported Sandyhill Abbey in 22.07.The sixth race which was decided over 525 yards course saw Weezie or What lead for most of the journey but he had no answer for fast finisher Steak for Two owned by the Fa-Ke-Syndicate (Westmeath) and trained by Tommy Kerrigan which swept through to score by one length in 29.75.Michael Murray"s (Drogheda) Bright Blue Star although off the pace in the early stages of the seventh race hit the front on the home straight to run by a length and a quarter from Mendo in 29.99.The eight race which was decided over the 525 yards resulted in a close encounter as P.J. Rigney"s (Offaly) Clonarrow Rocket held on by a quarter of a length from the fast finishing Fahy Shamrock in 29.97.Miss Mary Jennings (Birr) Laughill Lad topped the market at evens to do the business in the ninth and he duly obliged when powering home a convincing eight lengths winner from Glenbryan in 30.64 over the 550 yards trip.The Vera Croarkin trained and the A.J.
