Petrol down to 91.4 at one Mullingar outlet

Queues began forming outside the Topaz petrol station at Mullingar Business Park on Monday night, as word spread around that they were selling the cheapest petrol in town - just 91.4 cents per litre.A quick survey on Tuesday morning found there is huge variation in the prices motorists are being asked to pay for petrol at the pumps around Mullingar. In fact, at at least one garage in town, motorists filling up on Tuesday morning would have found themselves paying 99.9 cents per litre - meaning that the purchase of 50 litres of petrol would have cost some €4.25 more than at Topaz"s Business Park outlet. However, at the Topaz Westmeath Motors outlet, petrol wasn"t as low in price as at the Business Park. The advertising signs there on Tuesday morning had the price pegged at 95.9, the same as at Millie Walsh"s Maxol outlet at the Dublin Bridge and at Buckley"s Centra at Millmount. The next closest in price to Topaz was Tesco, where petrol was selling at 91.9 cents.
