The Livin Dred theatre company make a triumphant return to the Mullingar Arts centre with a new play "The Good Father" on Saturday, February 14.After their sell-out and highly acclaimed tour with Patrick McCabe"s "The Dead School", this progressive company, from the Ramor theatre in Virginia are certainly flying the flag for the region with several Irish Times Theatre Awards nominations.PlotStarring Micheal Patric and Gail Fitzpatrick, Tim and Jane are from different sides of the class divide, but after a random meeting at a New Year"s Eve party leads to an unexpected pregnancy, they attempt to form a relationship against all the odds. The play, by Galway based Christian O"Reilly, is both hilariously funny and poignantly sad as two people try to reach out to one another and play the hand of cards that they have been dealt.Expanding repertoirePart of the Nomad theatre collective, Livin Dred also brought Tom Murphys stunning "Conversations on a Homecoming" to Mullingar last year, again to critical acclaim and standing ovations. The "Good Father" is another in their expanding repertoire and, directed by the very innovative Pauric McIntyre, it is sure to be equally as enthralling as the earlier plays. The play runs for one night only Saturday, February 14 with tickets priced at €25. Tickets are available from the Arts Centre box office at 044 9347777.
