Coralstown Kinnegad Registration: Coralstown Kinnegad GAA club will hold their registration day for the 2009 season on the 28th February starting at 11 am and running until approximately 1 pm at the clubhouse behind the Manorfield estate.All are welcome to register on the day including new players. Membership can be on an individual or family basis.Coralstown Kinnegad Dinner DanceThis year"s dinner dance for the Coralstown Kinnegad GAA club will be held in the Hilamar Hotel on Saturday the 14th March starting at 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and tickets are €40 and are available from any committee member or in local shops.Eamonn Gilmore to attend Kinnegad Campaign LaunchLabour Leader Eamonn Gilmore will attend the campaign launch function for Denis Leonard on Saturday the 7th March at 10 p.m. in the Hilamar Hotel Function Room. Music on the night will be by Erins Pride and there will be raffles and dancing until late. Admission is €5 and all are welcome. Tickets will be in local shops this week.Kinnegad/Coralstown Community Games Quiz Trials;Quiz Trials will be held on February 27th February, 2009 to select a panel of six boys or girls, under 14 years, to represent Kinnegad/Coralstown at Community Games County Level. Entrants must be under 14 years on the 31st of July. Primary and Secondary School students welcome. The Quiz Trial will take place in St. Etchen"s N.S., Kinnegad at 6.30pm and will conclude at 8pm.Community Games DraughtsThe Under-10 Kinnegad/Coralstown Draughts team headed into the second round matches in early February. Following a victory against Delvin, the team were again victorious when they met Milltown Empor on 2/2/"09.The team enjoyed a 6-4 win and went on to play The Downs on 6/2/09. Unfortunately they were narrowly defeated on this occasion. The team was made up of; Eoin Bracken, Patrick Leydon, Maeve Walshe, Aisling Kelly, Robyn Kelly, Laura Canon and Sam O" Mahoney. Well done to both players and coaches.Secondary School CommitteeThere will a meeting on the 9th March at 8pm in Serenity House to set up a steering committee for the campaign for a secondary school in Kinnegad. Anyone from any of the primary schools boards of management or parents council as well as any individuals, groups or residents association that would like to lend their support to the campaign would be welcome. The Minister has acknowledged that his department have looked at a site in Kinnegad and are liaising with the County Council. Cardinal Sean Brady will visit the parish on Sunday the 7th June as part of the centenary celebrations. A special Centenary candle was distributed to each family in the parish; there are still a limited number available from the parish office. Work has begun on a parish web site for Centenary Year. For information on Centenary events call the Parish Office 9375117/9379170.St Etchen"s SchoolEnrolment 2009-2010The enrolment week for junior infants will run until Friday the 27th February. The Board of Management must have all details of all applicants for next September before the 12th March 2009.Kinnegad Parish NewsLent begins this week with Ash Wednesday and the distribution of ashes at the 8.30 am and 7.30 pm Mass in Kinnegad, the 8 pm Mass in Coralstown and the 9:30 am Mass in Clonard. There will be a special program for Lent including talks on the scriptures each Monday night in Serenity House from the 2nd March. For the Lenten season on Tuesdays there will be adoration, Wednesdays will see a special 8pm Mass in Kinnegad, Thursdays will include stations of the cross and 8pm Mass in Coralstown, Fridays will be 8pm stations of the cross in Kinnegad and Saturdays will have adoration after the 10 am Mass in Kinnegad. For the Sundays of Lent there will be a guest speaker each week on Christian Living in the year of vocations. Trocaire boxes are now available in each of the churches or at the parish office. Please support the parish building and development fund which makes all the church and school development possible. The parish office is moving back to the grounds of the church. It will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 pm each Thursday and Friday.
