Weekend competitions: The draw for the Paddy Brady matchplay stage is available in the Clubhouse and on the Website, and all first round matches should be played before 12th April.The Ninety Lynam competition was played under 'counting' conditions and Standard Scratch was returned at 37pts. Alan Tyrrell showed good early season form to take first place with 42pts.While PJ McCormack, Eamon Lynam and Dave Aspell took the Category prizes. Bert Burke had the best Gross score and Padraig Keenan became the first Veteran prize winner of the year. The inter-club team events are about to begin for 2009 and, as usual, the Irish Mixed Foursomes team are first out on Saturday 4th April - full review next week.Easter Golf CampPlans are well under way for an exciting development at the Club, when Anders Forsbrand and a team of instructors will host a Junior Golf Camp at the club during the week before Easter. This three day event will be open to Juniors from Moate Golf Club and may be extended to other Junior from around the midlands, subject to number of participants. It is a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to experience top class golf instruction from a golfer who has played in all of the majors and finished 4th in the Order of Merit in 1992. Full details will be issued in Press Releases over the next few days and the week promises to be one of the most exciting of the year. Anders will also give clinics for adult members, and will sponsor the prizes for the Good Friday Open competition.Ladies ClubThe Ladies Club year got off to a great start with the White Elephant competition on St Patrick"s Day. Thanks in part to the fine weather, there was a record turn out on the day. The competition was won by Mary Rohan with 29 pts, with Betty Behan (27 pts) and Anne Whelan (27 pts) taking second and third.The winners of the weekly competition on Wednesday 18th March were 1st Amy Farrell (11) - 40 pts, 2nd Vera Burgoyne (22) - 38 pts and 3rd Mary Egan (36) - 20 pts. Congratulations are extended to Anna O"Brien and Geraldine Coughlan who overcame Mount Bellew in the 1st round of the Daily Mail competition.The teams who have qualified to play in the semi-final of the Winter Spring League are - Team J (Veronica Mc Cormack) v Team H (Mary Egan) and Team C (Eileen White) v Team A (Pearse Corbett). Matches to be played on or before Sunday 29th March.
