David Kitt and The Nightsaver

David Kitt is on a new Irish tour to promote the release of his latest album, The Nightsaver, and he will be in Mullingar this Saturday, April 25, playing at the Stables venue. The Nightsaver is the Kittster"s sixth album and is the result of two years of late-night experimentation, 80-hour weeks, caught in the reverie of writing and recording in a home studio at the top of a winding staircase somewhere along Dublin"s Grand Canal. It has been described as natural sounding album as opposed to the music we hear nowadays that is weighed down with contrivance and the search for identity and purpose.Basically Kitt pressed pause on a career that was often hampered with distractions, and immersed himself in music, relishing the role of producer and the task of moulding the complex DNA of his latest work. This LP has evolved without any of the baggage of collaboration or record company influence, allowing his natural influences to filter through to a collection of concise songs. The free-flowing nuances of disco, Kraftwerk, 90"s house music, hip-hop of all eras and the evolving legacy of crafted synth-pop from Hall & Oates to Junior Boys can be heard throughout. The only guest on the album is Waterford artist Katie Kim on 'Beat A Retreat' and 'Don"t Wake Me Up'. Otherwise it"s all David. It has been said that this latest release allows his music to flow freely, something that has not happened since his debut album in 2000.'Every one of his intervening albums seems almost to have been hijacked by a theme or a reaction to an event in his personal life.'Check out David Kitt with music from his latest album at the Stables on April 25.
