Cardinal Brady to lead Kinnegad Centenary Celebrations

This Sunday the 7th June at 3 pm Cardinal Sean Brady the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland will be in Kinnegad with Bishop Michael Smith for the Mass to mark the occasion of the centenary of the parish church.After the Mass all are invited to a parish gathering in the Hilamar hotel. The Sunday Mass on the 7th will move from 12 pm to 3 pm to mark the occasion and everyone is welcome to the day of celebration of the centenary of the beautiful landmark church building in Kinnegad.Presentation to Westmeath HospiceThe presentation to the Westmeath Hospice was held in Donnelly"s of Kinnegad on Saturday night with a cheque for €1717.50 being presented to Westmeath Hospice. Rose Corcoran and Teresa Collentine of the Hospice received the cheque on the night and expressed their gratitude to both Coralstown Kinnegad GAA and Mullingar Shamrocks who raised the funds in an over 40"s game recently. The event is set to become an annual affair with a ladies match also mentioned for next year. Again a special thank you to all who played and contributed to raise funds for the Hospice through the Kinnegad vs Mullingar Match. Defibrillator TrainingThe next training date for the defibrillators is the 20th June at Safety Ireland in Blanchardstown. One was presented to Coralstown National School, one to St Etchens Kinnegad and one to Joe Brackens for Main Street. The Coralstown Kinnegad GAA club had already purchased one last year through some of the early fundraising and their own funds. There will now be four of these life saving devices available to the community and training took place in Safety Ireland on Saturday. The Defibrillators were presented by Kinnegad Community Council, Coralstown Kinnegad GAA and Kinnegad Juniors Soccer who had worked together on the fundraising. Thank you to all who took part in fundraising event and to all who contributed to a very worthy cause.Coralstown National School Bring and BuyThere will be a bring and buy sale in aid of Coralstown National school on Sunday the 14th June immediately after Mass in Coralstown. All are welcome to attend.Lir OrchestraThe Lir Orchestra under its musical director Vincent Hunt will perform its end of year concert in St Etchen"s National School on Monday the 8th June at 7pm. All are welcome.Polling Day on FridayThis Friday the 5th of June there will be a local and European Election poll. Voting in the Kinnegad area will take place in St Etchens National School with polling also taking place in Coralstown and the Downs National Schools. Polls are open from 7am to 10 pm to facilitate all voters.Cairdeas Summer CampsBrochures are now available for the summer camp programme for July 2009 at Cairdeas Childcare Centre, Killucan Road, Kinnegad.  This year there are 2 weeks of mixed activities including indoor and outdoor games and arts and crafts for 5 to 10 year olds. These camps take place from Monday 29th June to Thursday 9th July. They are also running a Modern Dance Camp for 5 to 13 year olds from Monday 13th July to Thursday 16th July.  An Arts and Crafts Camp for 5 to 13 year olds takes place from 20th to 23rd July and a Cookery Camp takes place from 17th to 20th August for the same age groups.  Further details from the centre on 044 9379346.  Please book early to avoid disappointment.Kinnegad Juniors AFCThe club will hold a race night in July as a fundraiser for our new grounds. Go for Life Classes are at 10:30 a.m. and continue each Monday. New members are always very welcome to attend any or all of the activities. Serenity house is the ideal place to meet old friends and make new acquaintances.Kinnegad Parish NewsPrayers are asked for Mary 'Molly' Mooney for Main Street Kinnegad who died at the weekend. Molly was a very dedicated parishioner who organised many pilgrimages to sacred places around Ireland. Also Mattie Melvin of Ballina, Co Mayo who is the father of school principal Matt Melvin has passed away this week. May they both rest in peace. This Friday is First Friday with Mass in Kinnegad at 8:30 am and 8 pm, in Clonard at 9am and in Coralstown at 10 am. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed all day in Kinnegad for veneration and prayer and all are welcome to visit the parish church on Friday. Congratulations to Joseph Campbell who was ordained a deacon. Preparations are ongoing for the Centenary Celebrations on Sunday the 7th June. There will be a parish novena to the Sacred Heart fro m the 11th to the 19th June with evening Mass and prayer time at 8pm each evening. There will be a parish golf classic in Trim on the 11th September.
