Detty lands Mullingar Area Committee chair

Labour Party county councillor and former Leas Cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council, Detty Cornally, has been installed as chairperson of the Council's Mullingar Area Committee.Cllr. Cornally was proposed and seconded for the chair by her party colleagues, Cllrs. Mick Dollard and Denis Leonard, at the committee's AGM on Monday of last week.First-time councillor Peter Burke (Fine Gael) has been selected as vice-chairman of the committee.He was nominated for the role by Cllr. Fintan Cooney, and seconded by Cllr. Leonard.The committee also welcomed Mullingar Town Council chairperson Ruth Illingworth as a tenth elected member of the body.Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil's Cllr. Robert Troy appealed to the Labour and Fine Gael groups to recognise FF's status as the largest party on Westmeath County Council, and at some stage, consider sharing the chair of the committee with them.
