The Coffey family 'Dunne' well on first late late show!

A quiet evening in watching the Late Late Show turned into an all-nighter for Castlepollard couple Geraldine and Declan Coffey.A quick call to enter a competition on Ryan Tubridy's first night in the hot seat had already been forgotten by 11.30pm when a researcher called Geraldine to tell her that she had won.And it was no ordinary prize but a veritable treasure chest which included a jeep worth €25,000, a €10,000 holiday with €5,000 spending money and €25,000 to spend in Dunnes Stores."I was speechless, I couldn't really say anything when I went up to get Declan and call the boys," said Geraldine. "The girl rang and told me that I had won and then she put me through to the show and I could hear the guests still chatting."The next thing I knew our mobiles started ringing and then the doorbell started going and we were up until 4am with friends and neighbours. I couldn't believe it. We still haven't decided where to go for the holiday but America and Australia are the current favourites. We want to go somewhere that we wouldn't normally go to."The next day, Geraldine's husband still managed to play (and win) at the McCormack's golf classic in Tyrrellspass despite not going to bed until the wee hours and was amazed at receiving phone calls from his brother in New York and his sisters in Australia not long after the big win."News travels fast doesn't it," laughed Declan. "I just couldn't believe that they all heard so quickly even though they are so far away."I wanted to get a rest for the golf in the morning and that's why I went to bed early. When Geraldine came up she just stood there, she couldn't speak and then she told me that we had won. I couldn't believe it, it's just fantastic."On Monday, the couple was again stunned when Margaret Heffernan, overall boss of Dunnes Stores, rang them personally to congratulate them on winning the competition. The couple will find out where and when they will get their prize in the next few days."It's possible that they will take us to Cork for the presentation as the first ever Dunnes shop has been done up and they are re opening it or it could be the one in Mullingar. They said that they would let us know on Wednesday," said Declan.
