Great contest at Friday night show in Equestrian Centre

Once again the 70 and 80cm classes proved to be the most popular and hotly contested on Friday night last. Super clear rounds from Roisin Fagan and Megan Connell in the 70cm, and both with identical times, put them into joint top position. Rebecca Joyce and HB Hazelnut finished a close second. The 80cm class is particularly popular at the moment as the winner each week will secure the opportunity to compete in the professional pairs relay at the international show in June. Rather than competing against the clock an optimum time is set each week which keeps the jumping at a very high standard and yet at level playing field for all the young competitors. With the target time of 41 seconds, ninth to go Chris Connell went through the finish clear in 41.19 seconds. Closest rival Eleanor Waldron finished second on 41.86 with third place going to Jack O'Leary. Chris now joins Eoghan Fagan and Rebecca Joyce as the third rider to qualify for the international show. Triona Dunne took a well deserved break from her studies to win the 90cm event in style from peter Hamill with Brazil in second. Jumping continues next Friday at 6pm.SJI Spring LeagueSaturday last was the second leg of the Spring League which will run until the end of April. Despite a very cold and frosty start to the day there was a great turn out of ponies for the 9.30am startt (some had only left the premises a few hours earlier!). Jason from Ashe Equestrian, who is sponsoring a fantastic "Ashe Equestrian Makeover prize" was on hand to check out the entries in the horse classes and was delighted to see a representation of riders from six counties at this early stage. Don't forget that there are sixteen places available in the final with just two going through from each county. For further details visit www.mullingarequestrian.comResultsFriday, February 2040 cmJack (Erica Foran), Starling (Robyn Fagan), Tiger (Chloe Fagan), Misty (Rose Dolan), Snowy (Hannah McGoldrick), Starling (Tara Flynn), Blossom (Lauren Shaw), Starling (Emer Flynn), Chester (Steven Walsh), Spirit (Sarah Joyce), Sadie (Rebecca Flynn), The Hobo (Killian Norris), Blossom (Charlie Drumm), Sylvester (Aaron Lovely Dolan), Cuddles (Ashling McGreal), Banjo The Boss (Jodie O'Leary), Pom (Sophia Maltson), Jack (James Drumm).60cmJack (James Drumm), Petal (Sean McGann), Stig (Jack O'Leary), Ron (Sophia Maltson), Black Beauty (Ruairi Fagan), Sargeant (Rebecca Flynn), Sadie (Emma Flynn), Banjo The Boss (Megan O'Leary), Bobby (Caroline Dardis), Ziggy (Deirdre Robbins), Gus (Eoin McLoughlin).70cmSpot The Talent (Megan Connell), Belle (Roisin Fagan), Catman (Jack O'Leary), Banjo The Boss (Megan O'Leary), Paddy (Conor Lyons), Chester (Sophie Walsh), HB Hazelnut (Rebecca Joyce), Bailey (Nano Healy), Sparky (Aisling McGreal), Catman (Jack O'Leary), Dougal (Eoghan Fagan), Apache (Roisin Fagan), Ziggy (Louise Robbins).90cmSnowman (Triona Dunne), Brazil (Peter Hamill), Sir Scoobie (Eleanor Waldron), Gypsy (Ciara Fagan), Buttons 2 (Rebecca Yorke), Bling (Michael O'Reilly), North Star (Clodagh Tuite), Rince (Ciara Fagan).80cmArdnaglass Lady (Christopher Connell), Sir Scoobie (Eleanor Waldron), Catman (Jack O'Leary), Sappucino (Rebecca Yorke), Tommy (Aaron Murphy), Apache (Roisin Fagan), Smokey (Rion Murphy), Bailey (Nano Healy), Sean Ban (Louise Martin), Serenade (Claire Gorman), Trigger (Nano Healy).
