London's calling medal winner Damien

Mullingar cyclist Damien Shaw is off to the Paralympics in London next summer after him and team mate, James Brown, finished in second place in the final of the 4km Pursuit at the UCI World Paracycling Track Championships in Los Angeles yesterday, Thursday February 9.Damien and his tandem partner James posted a new Irish record time of 4:26.778 during the heats. In the final they wre up agains the experienced Australian pairing of Bryce Lindores and Scott McPhee, who opened up a solid lead straight from the bell. Despite their best efforts the Irish boys were unable to catch them.Congratulations to Damien and James on the silver medal winning performance and with John Joe Nevin's place in the Irish boxing squad for the Olympics already, London is most definitely calling for the people of Mullingar next summer..
