Soroptimists have International Women's Day covered

Mullingar Soroptimist Club is hosting a number of events in the Annebrook Hotel to celebrate International Women's Day on Thursday March 8.Eager to ensure that all the women of Mullingar have an opportunity to attend, the Soroptimists have put together a morning programme (10am-12.30pm), which is aimed at stay-at-home mums, and an evening programme (7.30-10pm) for those out during day.The organisation's theme for its events this year is the promotion of positive mental health and this will be to the fore tomorrow, Thursday. In addition to a wide variety of short talks on topics such as Understanding the stress of modern day life - anxiety and post natal depression; Ten tips - building resilience; Stress in the workplace; there will also be hair, beauty and tips for eating well.To bring some levity to proceedings, the critically acclaimed comedienne Alison Spittle from Ballymore will performing at both events.Sarah McCormack, president of the Mullingar branch of the Soroptimists, urged women of all ages to try and make it to either event: "It's about getting the women of Mullingar to come out. For a few hours they can forget about the recession and the everything else. It's also a great excuse to leave the men at home for one evening!"
