Peter Clark, the grandson of a former resident of Mullingar, is trying to find information about his grandmother, and has contacted the Westmeath Examiner to see if any of our readers can help.As far as Peter knows, Ellen Mary Keane was born about 1860 and was a daughter of Michael and Ellen Keane (née Murphy).He is not 100% sure of the name - it could have been Kane (or even Cane?)."But my mother always told me it was Keane - pronounced Keen, I expect, by foreigners," Peter wrote to the Examiner.Peter believes Ellen Mary and her sister Mary Anne left Westmeath in 1883, bound for Queensland, Australia and a few years later a younger sister Kate went out too."I know Ellen Mary had a sister, Bridget and a couple of brothers," said Peter.Peter's family details show that Ellen married Patrick Ryan from Tipperary and Mary Anne married Patrick Mallon, son of Michael Mallon and Rose Lynch of Mullagh, County Cavan. Kate married Thomas Taylor.There was another sister Bridget, who was born February 6, 1866, and baptised February 10.
