Firm behind jobs announcement named as MID@S Technologies

The name of the firm that is to create up to a hundred jobs in Mullingar this year has been revealed as MID@S Technologies.

The firm, which will operate out of the former GMAC building at Clonmore Industrial Estate, is to engage in business process outsourcing.
Mullingar Chamber of Commerce says that besides the call centre activity, it sees potential in back office processing; shared services;  business continuity services and software development.
It said the firm’s aim is to employ 250 by 2014, and then to expand to other midland towns including Athlone.
The chief movers behind Mid@s are Bill Glennon, Niall Hearn and Derek Mizak. Niall Hearn, from Mullingar, has worked previously in the banking sector and in IT out-sourcing. In October 2012, after leaving AIB, he set up EQIT-Consulting.
Bill Glennon worked for 20 years in the IT industry with Bank of Ireland, Perot Systems and IBM, and in 2010, created an IT services firm Glenzak.
Derek Mizak is owner of DMZ IT, specialising in information security, IT disaster recovery, and project and programme management. He was previously group IT manager with Mercury Engineering.
Mullingar Chamber has this week paid tribute to Deputy Willie Penrose for his work on the project. Deputy Penrose got involved in January, and was responsible for setting the wheels in motion to get meetings set up between the promoters, the County Enterprise Board, the County Development Board and the IDA.
“I did work very proactively and positively, because the IDA were absolutely crucial to this, and I had a direct intervention with the IDA in this regard, right up to the chief executive level and the regional managers,” Deputy Penrose confirmed this week.
Deputy Penrose is hugely optimistic about the future of the project: “The promoters are deeply committed to the midlands, and they have a huge background in technical, commercial and financial services, and there is tremendous backup behind them,” he said.
He added that he believed the project would represent a huge boost from which all sectors of Mullingar’s economy would benefit, thanks to the trickle-down effect.
Robert Troy TD has praised the investors, the County Enterprise Board and the IDA for their work in bringing the firm to town, saying the jobs boost is “extremely important”.
