Connaughton announces inter-county retirement

Tributes have been paid today to Westmeath goalie Gary Connaughton, who announced his inter-county retirement.
The Tubberclair clubman informed his team mates of his decision following the Lake County’s shock loss to Fermanagh on Saturday.
An All-Star in 2008, Gary Connaughton has spent over a decade as Westmeath’s first-choice goalkeeper. He won a Leinster U21 medal in 2000 and was one of the stars of the historic 2004 Leinster breakthrough.
