Westmeath's footballers were out early this morning.

Footballers out dark and early as royals visit looms

The year 2014 may be one to forget for Westmeath's senior footballers but it appears that Tom Cribbin's charges are eager to ensure that their fortunes improve in 2015.

Despite the sub zero temperatures this morning, the squad were out training dark and early in Lakepoint Park - 7am to be precise - as this photo tweeted by Mullingar Cryo Spa shows.

According to star forward Dennis Glennon, Cribbin has adopted a back to basics approach to training and has the team working harder than they have in years.

Let's hope all this toil pays off and the new manager and his team get the 2015 season off to a winning start when Meath come to town on Sunday.
