Former GAA president Dr Mick Loftus was the guest of honour at the official launch of the Irish TV Gaelic Masters on Saturday in the Clew Bay Hotel, Westport.

Gaelic Masters chairperson John Pat Sheridan said: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

“We are delighted to be working with Irish TV again this year as they understand our ethos, aims and passion for football. The Gaelic Masters like Irish TV is growing in popularity every year and we see this new partnership as the perfect way for both of us to develop.”

Irish TV and the Gaelic Masters Association have agreed a new naming rights package that will see the national competition, renamed the Irish TV Gaelic Masters.

The deal also confirms a commitment from the channel to broadcast the Gaelic Masters Shield and Masters Finals live again this year.

The new partnership will see Irish TV giving extensive coverage to the closing stages of the 2015 Gaelic Masters competition with the Shield and Masters Finals set to be broadcast live on November 7.

Irish TV CEO Pierce O’Reilly said he was delighted to be supporting the Gaelic Masters again this year as the competition reaches into the heart of the community in the participating counties.

“The Gaelic Masters Association is all about ordinary people doing something extraordinary things and that fits perfectly with the ethos of Irish TV. Over the past two years we have developed an excellent relationship with the Gaelic Masters and we see this sponsorship as a key milestone in cementing that relationship going forward,” said Mr O’Reilly.

“We hope that people continue to support all our efforts in promoting a healthy lifestyle for Gaelic players who are over 40 years. We are enjoying our participation now more than ever before and we are delighted that Irish TV is part of our success,” Mr Sheridan.

At the launch Liam Joyce, Irish TV’s head of PR and Marketing, said: “We are thrilled to be broadcasting the Gaelic Masters on Irish TV. This year we want our viewers to be closer to the action as we attempt to bring the buzz, the colour and the excitement of a big match day to their living rooms.”
