Snow White did the official switch-on of the lights yesterday afternoon in Mullingar.

Thanks from Mullingar Town Team

Sincere thanks to everybody who contributed to the switch-on of the Christmas Lights in Mullingar, yesterday, Thursday November 24.

We were lucky with the weather and blessed with the support of business and private individuals, who gave their time generously to make this event a success.

The Market Square was full and the children and adults enjoyed the interaction with Santa and some of the cast from Snow White.

While Snow White is a big hit with all the boys and girls, Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles brought their own magic to the proceedings. Sincere thanks to Sean Lynch and Mullingar Arts Centre.

Thanks also to Garda Sean Daly, Garda Tom Blake and Garda Neil Donellan. Their presence and assistance was much appreciated.

To Steve Cummins, manager at Mullingar Chamber of Commerce, and Liam Higgins from Westmeath County Council, we say 'thank you' for your contribution.

Sincere thanks to Midlands 103 for attending and giving Mullingar some positive media coverage. Thanks also to Apache Pizza for supplying delicious pizza.

One family left Market Square very happy, as they won the family pass to see Snow White, opening on December 7, sponsored by Mullingar Arts Centre.

Des Walsh and all the Technical Elves on ladders around the town, the timing was well synchronised, and all the relevant lights appeared right on time.

Thanks must go to all the businesses in the town who support this annual event, by providing funding , time and effort. We could not organise this event without our local businesses.

Thanks to our local Media - Westmeath Examiner and Topic Newspapers.

The Westmeath Examiner Facebook Live feed was watched all around the world as well as by many people in Mullingar - Sydney, Florida, Longford, Killarney, Toronto, Israel, Rathowen, Lancashire, Lebanon, New Jersey, Delvin, Oldham, Wales, Rathwire, Qatar, Spain, Clonmellon, Multyfarnham, Leixlip, New York, Navan, Killare, Vancouver and Bournemouth.
