Mullingar student named as winner of Trinity scholarship

Mullingar man Colm Hogan (20) has just been announced as a sports scholar at Trinity College Dublin. Colm won the scholarship for rugby.

The second year law and French student commented: “The scholarship is fantastic as it recognises the amount of work that athletes put into their respective sports while helping us to balance our chosen degree with sporting commitments.

"I'm currently studying law and French and am playing with Trinity, Munster and Ireland.

"The scholarship helps me to put my best foot forward in these and it's great for putting Trinity College on the sporting map!”

Colm has also just been announced as part of the Ireland U20 squad for this year’s Six Nations (first game Friday February 3).

The college awarded 68 sports scholarships in total, all of whom were unveiled at a celebration event in the university’s Dining Hall.

Trinity Sport’s scholarship programme for 2016/2017 comprises 68 male and female student athletes representing 20 different sports.

Among the sports included are taekwondo, Gaelic football, basketball, rugby, rowing and hockey.
