UPDATE: Man dies after this morning's workplace accident

The man injured in a workplace accident in Mullingar this morning has, tragically, died from his injuries.

Aged 43, the man - understood to be from County Meath - was working at at the site of the former Heiton Buckley facility in Lough Sheever Business Park, Castlepollard Road, Mullingar when, at approximately, 8.50am, the accident happened.

Gardaí and ambulance services attended the scene, and the man was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The HSA has been notified and has an investigator assigned to examine the case.

UPDATE: 

HSA press officer, Mark Ryan, confirmed to the Westmeath Examiner just before 3pm that there are two inspectors on site investigating the cause of the accident, which happened at what he described as a "construction site".
