Clonmellon girl delighted with response to Spire of Lloyd song

A young woman from Clonmellon has been left “genuinely overwhelmed” after a song she wrote about the iconic Spire of Lloyd attracted more than 15,000 views within just 24 hours of being shared online. Ceallaigh Ní Bheirnigh said she never expected that level response, explaining that the song was originally created as something “very close to my heart”.

Ceallaigh has received numerous comments, calls and messages from people who said the song brought back memories and connected them with their families, local places and Irish heritage. Writing about the response, Ceallaigh said she had not intended for the song to go “out there” on such a scale, but was delighted that she had decided to share it.

She expressed her gratitude to everyone who listened to the song, shared it, commented or took the time to contact her. She said the response demonstrated how something created from the heart can find its way into the hearts of others.

The Spire of Lloyd, near Kells, is a distinctive landmark and has long been associated with the history and landscape of the region.
